Default persistent MMO

this is taken from the blog which i just started reading........

Q: Guild Wars 2 is a big, persistent MMO. Some players out there have expressed concerns about the loss of instancing, since this means that there may be negative people in public areas.

Eric: There are always going to be negative people in public areas, which is something we’re well aware of. However, with its more social gameplay, Guild Wars 2 takes away most of the ways that other players can negatively impact your play experience. Shared goals means that “mob ownership” issues are almost non-existent. More forgiving loot and XP rules make kill-stealing a thing of the past. Of course, there are many ways players can find to disrupt each other’s play experiences, and it is our goal to limit those types of interactions wherever they occur. These are just some of the things that we’re doing to ensure that playing Guild Wars 2 is as enjoyable and grief-free an experience as possible.

I don't know about you but the fact that GW was an INSTANCE based game is one of the major things that I liked..... being able to go places with people or just going out where no other people are......

I have played WoW and when they talk about a "persistant" game thats what I think of and I really didn't like that.......I know that I am really just speculating here on what exactly the gameplay will be like but honestly if it is similar to WoW then I will probably drop GW2.....that's just not my play style....

Of course the game will give alot of good times for the majority of the people I guess I am just weird and this makes me sad.... I will try the game still obviously but this just scares me on how the whole set up of GW is changing......

your thoughts/comments are almost always appriciated.

GW2 has only two major things in common with GW1:

- An arena for low-grind-entry, evenly-powered pvp matches esport style.
- An AAA MMO with no monthly fees.

That's it. Everything else promises to be wildly different.

Also, wrong forum.

actually it has 2 more...the name and the 'land' though much changed from the guildwars we know to the future guildwars yet to be.
so 4 things they have in common.

ok well first I thought i did post in GW2 forum... my bad...

2nd - I play GW cause I like the play style if they are not going to keep the style of play the same then it is NOT GUILDWARS anymore... it is a different and NEW game using the GW title as a morale booster for them to sell the game.....

and yes I know all this is speculation, and YES I will try GW2... and YES the style of game play is what makes GW WAY different from all the other of MMOs out there.... but it seems to me that they are leaning towards those other game styles... but we will see
